Nice dark color with poured. Off white foam head that is small and sparse. Nice roasted nut aroma. The flavor is that of nuts and dark chocolate. A very nice Christmas beer.

Rouge red colors, like a watered-down Coca-Cola. Big puffy head. Glassy and clear given its depth. The aroma is good, pungent and slighly sweet, almost like a barleywine. Strong alcohol smell. Hint of dark grape sweetness. Very pungent sweet grape with lots of alcohol. Like a light barleywine. Very sweet, very strong. Bitter barleymalt balances it. Spicy with some apparent ginger. Minor dry yeast. Feels thick and chewy. Has a liqueur burn on the way down. Syrupy. Strong, sweet loaded with alcohol. Really a fine beer.

Poured into a pint glass from a 12oz. bottle The color is an amber/brown, with a foamy white head. Th smell is a little fruity, with some spice flavor and a malty overtone. The Taste is malry with some christmas spice, Some caramel flavor and some hints of hops. This beer is anice seaonal beer. It has the right ammount of flavoring for the time of year and has a nice and even body to it.

Best Before: October 2009. Appearance: Pours a clear, deep, garnet-hued body with a frother, ivory-hued head. Smell: A primarily malty nose with notes of pale malt, toasted biscuits, semi-dry caramel, and (though very lightly) chocolate. Faintly fruity. Lesser note of herbal hops. Taste: Pale, biscuity malts with some accompanying tastes of light caramel and chocolate. Medium sweetness. Very modest hint of citrus alongside a touch of dark fruitiness. Leafy, herbaceous hops with no more than a medium-low amount of bitterness delivered. Drying finish with a light, lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: So-so. A pleasant, if somewhat simple English-minded brew for winter or whenever, really.

bottle says best by 3/2008 well its still quite good. hint of raisin and toasted bread and soy sauce with a toasty hop finish that is quite endearing. good little kick with aged caramel in a bit of rum with that aforementioned hop finish flavor too bad it was one of a kind at the palisades in Jersey City. hey someyomes you just get lucky! Dark and dank looking with that bit of nuttiness .
