The aroma, flavor, and aftertaste are pleasantly sweet. Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale is a Halloween tradition at our house.... GriffinAvenue (396), Winchester, Massachusetts, USA

Limited activity . . . presents inself more like an apple cider than beer. Cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg - very holiday-like spice. Watery and far too thin in body to be impressive. Apple sauce lingers on the tongue post taste. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Similar flavors with decent finish. I could drink this when it’s the season. blipp (1716), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 11, 2007 Bottle. Appearance: Hazy golden orange with an off white head. Aroma: Cinnamon and spice and everything nice. Little hints of nutmeg and clove. Not very powerful but pleasant nonetheless. Palate: Light, clean, and a little watery. Flavor: Reminds me way more of apple pie than pumpkin pie. Cinnamon is very noticeable. Allspice, nutmeg, apple, and vanilla round out the taste. Overall: Very tasty and interesting beer, although it’s a little to sweet for my taste and seems to be lacking something. A very easy drink. Buy a six pack and share with friends. It has a dark, almost pumpkin color; spiced with cinnamon and cloves. I’ll make a weekend to get it on tap in Maine before it comes to Boston. Truly a great treat of the season. The aroma was clove coupled to allspice with a strong cinnamon presence. Behind those aromas was a bit of a sulfur nature and some caramel. The beer poured into the glass clear golden straw with a white tight bubbled head that lasted very well to lace the glass. The flavor was lightly spicy with some allspice, more clove and a nice cinnamon character which reminded me of spiced cider. The flavor had no real pumpkin impression and if you boosted the alcohol and called it a winter warmer I would not have been surprised. Some vanilla flavor was notable. The finish was dry with just a lasting light impression of spice into the aftertaste. The body was medium with a moderate level of carbonation. A drinkable beer, but without any pumpkin to note and with spices which really don’t add up to pumpkin. 12 ounce bottle. Purchased at Trader Joes. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 3, 2007 Bottle pours a clear light yellow orange. Full dense sandy colored head and coarse spotty lacing. Light malt aroma. Some sweet pumpkin pie notes. Tastes similar, the pumpkin spice taste a bit chemical and artificial. Short lived body and flavor and a clean thin finish. Not a big fan.
