Began with a modest, pinky-finger thick off-white head above a body of clear, dark gold. Aroma was unusual, perhaps a spice or two, but nothing I recognized; might’ve been pumpkin but not enough to know for sure. Mouthfeel was flat and thinner than I’d have liked it to be; taste was odd for the first half but as I got closer to the end, finally the pumpkin became evident. Maybe it just needed a good stir before drinking. nickd717 (1392), Palo Alto, California, USA

Aroma of sweet malt, some mild pumpkin spice, grain and cardboard. Does not smell very good. Flavor is malty sweetness with artificial-tasting pumpkin spices. Not terribly offensive, but it also tastes like it was aged in cardboard casks. Palate is a little watery and astringent. This is not a good pumpkin ale. roder60 (1032), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | May 2, 2009 Pours a pale yellow orange color with very very slight haze and minimal bubbly white head that quickly dissapates. Aroma is very sweet and a bit pumpkiny, but not too pungent. Flavor a tart pumpkin with some citrus bite. Watery. Overall, not impressed with this or any shipyard brew. Color is a hazy orange with a foamy white head. Some nice lacing left on the glass.
Smell is strong, a bit tangy, with a hint of pumpkin and some citrus hops.
The taste, which is no surprise, has a pumpkin flavor to it with a tangy citrus feel to it. There was also some nice hop flavor in the mix as well as a slight hint of orange peel. A nice hint of cinnamon rounded it out.
I tried it since many friends said it one of their favorite seasonal brews. This is good fall beer, is great to have when raking leaves.

Pumpkin cinnamon and nutmeg taste. One is nice to try but more than that would be overkill. Rciesla (3830), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA
