Commercial Description:
XXXX IPA is a non-traditional American IPA with a brilliant copper color and the classic citrus nose of Cascade hops. This beer demonstrates a unique balance of malt-inspired, delicate red grapefruit sweetness and lingering hop dryness. The OG and final Alc./Vol. provide the structure and body to balance the harmony of distinct flavors.Cascade, Warrior,Summit and Glacier hops are used for bittering and Cascade hops are added for dry hopping after fermentation. This hop blend is well balanced with malted wheat, pale ale, crystal, and caramel malts. To full enjoy all the flavors, this ale is best drunk at 55 degrees Fahrenheit. This beer pairs well with Cajun dishes, blackened fish, and BBQ. XXXX draws its name from the British brewing convention of using X’s to denote style. 70 BU,s, 1.092 OG.

Bottle: Coppery with rocky head and spotty lace, The aroma has notes of caramel and roasted malts, grassy and herbal hops, tangerine, crabapple, earthy yeasty esters. The taste is fruity and bitter, well balanced but there is a touch of butterscotch and under attenuated malts. Light spice notes upon the finish. The mouth feel is lively and crisp but a bit chalky upon the finish. Okay, better than two of the Pugsleys offerings from Shipyard but worth the monies.

Aroma and appearance were both great at the start as well as the taste, but eventually the taste became a little annoying, and to the last sip was getting to the point where it was a chore to finish. Great grapefruit and pine flavors and aroma. not bad, but wont do it again.

Slightly hazy amber with a lasting white head. Hoppy aroma of peach, pine and tangerine. Sweet fruity hop flavour with a good bitterness and a little alcohol showing.

22 oz. bottle, nice aroma of grapefruit, off-white head with a little lacing, red/golden copper color. Strong alcohol taste, but not overpowering. Nice warmer - good for coming in from shoveling snow. WIll drink again.

22oz bottle, gold foil. Red, copper color, off-white rocky head. Aroma of raisins, dried fruit, lots of sweet grapefruit. Nice complex malt body. Lots of caramel flavor, well balanced. a bit of Cascade florals floating around in the finish. It’s ok.

Pours a golden copper color with a good head and adequate carbonation. Aroma is of hops, floral, citrus, pine, and more hops. The first taste hits you pretty strongly - very hoppy and slight malts (the way I like it) - and at first I didn’t think I’d like it, but this one really grows on you. The 9.2% warms you up quickly and the wonderful hop flavors persist through the finish, but don’t leave you with a bitter taste. Very enjoyable, though in the end, it tastes hoppier than the IBUs would indicate - almost up there with a Ruination (100+) but it’s really only at 70.
