Been hanging out a lot lately with a couple of macro drinking friends, so here we are. I did introduce one of my friends, who’s former favorite beer was Shock Top, to Hoegaarden, which he likes better. That’s a win. Unfortunately the all you can eat chicken wing place didn’t see fit to have Hoegaarden on tap, so we got this instead. It’s not great by any means, but it’s better than Blue Moon by a country mile, so that’s something. Smells like any other beer of this style, thankfully I didn’t pick up any off aromas or flavors. Pretty crisp and clean for what it was.

12oz bottle, served cold. Pours light orange with a one-finger white head, retains a decent cap. Aroma is citrus, orange especially. Flavor is light citrus, key word: light. Rather watery. Makes me think of carbonated orange Gatorade or sugarless orange Kool-Aid. Witbiers aren’t a style I usually go for so I don’t have much to compare it to. Pretty weak overall though, although I don’t find it offensive. Would be nice on a summer day after some yard work, etc.

TAP: fairly weak attempt at a Belgian White by a brewer who shoudn’t be attempting such things (apparently). Light orange pour, hazy, white head. Very mild wheat and citrus on the nose and taste. Flat and boring, even as compared to Blue Moon.

On tap at Burrito Bar in Brooklyn. Mango coloured body with thin white head. Nose of fruits, sort of. Taste is very watery, only slight notes of fruits, including orange, mango and peaches. Dodgy. Didn’t finish.

another failed attempt at a macro to try to recreate the taste or at least appeal of these wonderful micro/craft brewed beers. boring pour, a little hint of spice...perfect drain pour.

If I was a 15-year-old girl, I’d be like, "OMG WTF is this?" Actually, if I was a 15-year-old girl, I’d probably like this beer, because it seems that that’s the basic demographic that goes for this stuff. It sucks when you go to an event and they have a "craft" tap and as you make your way through the crowd waiting to see what it is, you say to yourself, "Please don’t be Shock Top, please don’t be Shock Top." and then...it’s Blue Moon. Or Shock Top. Give me a break. Anyway, this pours cloudy yellow with a small white head that fades rather quickly. Aroma is wheat, citrus, banana, and yeast. Sort of generic. Flavor is very generic with wheat, lemon, orange, banana, and bubblegum. Very uninspiring. Palate is light and annoyingly harsh and acidic. This beer is a donkey punch to the face of Belgium by Anheuser-Busch. Just don’t drink it unless you have to.

Would someone please tell the Macro companies not to try and be "hip" or "try and be Micro"!!!! this is a shining example of why the macros have absolutely no idea what good beer should be. No flavor besides the actual orange in my glass, way too acidic and no aftertaste, would rather lick wallpaper glue.

On draught at National Airport in DC. Cloudy orange with a solid white head that doesn’t budge and inch over 10 minutes. Aroma of citrus and skunks. Very sour, unpleasantly so, with an extreme acidic finish. Light bodied for the style. Best skipped. Nothing remarkable about this one.
