hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Oct 20, 2009 On tap at Shoreline Brewery. Small tan head, transparent reddish orange body, no carbonation noted, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma was malty, hints of caramel and lightly bready. The flavor mimicked the aroma. The mouthfeel was smooth and this beer is medium bodied. A very easy to drink Scottish Ale, but lacked character and thus was just an okay beer for the style. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2009 This draft brew from the brewery poured a very small sized head of fine to medium sized tan colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent uncarbonated dark copper brown colored body and a poor lacing. The weak aroma was malty. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The thin flavor contained notes of malt mild hops and mild brown malt. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Jul 28, 2009 9oz draft 6/609 For the Love of Hops Enjoyed with FlssmrBrewAlum-Poured a light amber/dark brown. Aroma of malt and caramel. Flavor the same with some light vanilla thrown in. Overall, this light bodied brew was weak and flavorless. Was expecting more. shawnm213 (882), South Bend, Indiana, USA Jul 19, 2009 pours a clear copper with a small offwhite head. notes of vanilla, some sweet malts, toast. easy drinkin. FlssmrBrewAlum (1079), Lisle, Illinois, USA Jun 7, 2009 Y9 oz draft courtesy of the TB Hop Juice release (Warrenville, IL). Enjoyed with Headbanger. Pours a murky brown, not necessarily hazy, small tan head. Aromas are small, light maltiness, peat, vanilla. Body is thin, a little dissappointing. Flavors mix caramel, vanilla, some faint peat, and maltiness. Sweet, light bitterness on the finish. Overall, lacking in flavor and body, a bit watery. A good try. Cheers! Narnad (681), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA Jun 7, 2009 A guest beer at For the Love of the Hops! 2009 festival at Two Brothers Brewery in Warrenville, IL.Pours a pretty mix of dark brown and red with a low tan head. Aroma is very malt oriented, heavy caramel notes, lots of Munich malt toasted notes, low apple and white grape sweetness, bready. Flavor has a low peat smokiness, lots of Munich malt toastedness really comes through, sweet caramel and a light chocolate malt hit toward the end of the tasting. Density feels a bit light for the style and carbonation was a tad bit low as well. Overall an okay beer for the style but nothing really to write home about. pantanap (1323), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 15, 2009 tap at brewpub...dark amber brown pour with a white soapy head... caramel malts and bready aroma... sweet yet mild caramel matl. med carbonation and decent mouthfeel. a drinkable scottish ale. MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Sep 20, 2008 On tap at Shoreline Brewery and served in a shaker. This beer poured a coppery brown with a thin, bubbly head that quickly faded away. The aroma consisted of light caramel, toffee, a touch of chocolate, and some house yeast. The flavor was much the same, blending everything together very neatly. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. A pretty nice session brew.
