| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | May 4, 2007 On tap. Pours clear brown color with a thin beige colored head. Aroma is fairly faint sweet malt, caramel, peat perhaps. Flavor is caramel malts, dried fruit, roasted nuts. Palate is thin and watery, mildly carbonated, finished sweet. My least favorite of the ones I tried. Cornfield (4975), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 16, 2007 This pours a deep chestnut body boldly hihlighted in shades of red with a negligible head. There’s a rich caramel sweetness to the node, also roasted nuts, and a suggestion of smoke. Smooth. Big malty flavors along with some pome fruits, wood, a suggestion of chocolate, and a bitter nut or three. Nice.

Has a sweet and malty peaty aroma. Body starts sweet and dark caramely with a touch of milk chocolate. A well balanced and authentic brew. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 14, 2007 On tap. Pours a clear deep ruby/mahogany with tight, long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is caramel-sweet, nutty and dry-grain. Flavor isclean, nutty, lightly toaty, a dollop of rich malt sweeetness and a judicious spot of hop bitterness. A tiny bit of dried fruit makes a showing toward the end of the glass. Medium palate with a final showing from the hops as it goes down the throat. A well-rounded beer and the best of their lineup. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Dec 17, 2006 Draft at the brew pub. Clear orange-brown color with a thin off white head. Not a whole lot of aroma other than dried fruit. Tasted of dried fruit as well, especially cherry. No peat or smoky malt flavors that I could find as I sloshed the stuff over my tongue. Smooth mouth feel. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 21, 2006 draft - Pours dark with a light malty aroma and a thin head. The flavor is very malty, but has a good hops balance as well. The body is on the thin side for the style and is lightly carbonated. mamabeer (39), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 9, 2006 tap - I was a bit disappointed in this ’award winning’ Scottish ale. It presented itself with a deep amber hue with a thin light head that was quickly gone. Light scent of caramel. Thin but smooth on the palate. Had a nice lightly roasted malt taste, but not the fullness of flavor I would have liked. Tmoney99 (4794), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Draft sample at brewery. Dark brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that diminished quickly with fair lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish with a moderate duration.
