Commercial Description:
A smooth malty offering, amber in color, and low on hop bitterness. Beltaine is a festival held every spring with patrons running throught fire and taking some embers home for the hearth.

The great thing about this ale is that it stood out in a sampler that my wife got. My wife is not a big beer drinker in a sense that she likes Corona, Blue Moon and generally lighter beers. But she liked the Beltaine, and so did I. Burnt-orange/brown color. Looks like it would be a dark, heavy tasting beer, but is actually quite flavorful without all the heavy overtones. Ask Benny for one.

On tap at the fest. Ruby red with thin off-white head. Strong dark malt aroma with some dark fruit as well. Dark fruit flavor with caramel, roasted malt and lots of dough. Medium body, light carb. A really nice beer, considerable as a growler fill.

Sampled from a growler on 9/30/06: Pours a clear dark brown with a thin, wispy tan head. Has a sweet and malty peaty aroma. Body starts sweet and dark caramely with a touch of milk chocolate. A well balanced and authentic brew.

Had this one draught at the brewpub in Michigan City, Indiana. Clear, dark brown pour with a caramel apple nose and a bit of vodka; peaty but a bit fruity; complex, warm but not alcoholic, very good!

This pours a deep chestnut body boldly hihlighted in shades of red with a negligible head. There’s a rich caramel sweetness to the node, also roasted nuts, and a suggestion of smoke. Smooth. Big malty flavors along with some pome fruits, wood, a suggestion of chocolate, and a bitter nut or three. Nice.

On tap.
Pours a clear deep ruby/mahogany with tight, long-lasting off-white head. Aroma is caramel-sweet, nutty and dry-grain. Flavor isclean, nutty, lightly toaty, a dollop of rich malt sweeetness and a judicious spot of hop bitterness. A tiny bit of dried fruit makes a showing toward the end of the glass. Medium palate with a final showing from the hops as it goes down the throat. A well-rounded beer and the best of their lineup.

Sample taste from growler at <a href=http://www.chibeer.org>Chicago Beer Society meeting & Randy Mosher birthday party, Dec. 1. More hastily scribbled notes from the tail end of a homebrew club meeting! Let’s see... I wrote "Still yeasty but nicely peated - proper color — pours light head." Well, I do remember liking this quite a lot for being, yes, a good standard ale of indeterminate shillings. I will have to work on a trip to Lighthouse Place so I have an excuse to visit, cause if I’m going to Michigan, I’m saving my beer money for Bell’s or New Holland...
