750 ml bottle, courtesy GoT. This one pours a dark caramel brown color with some reddish tint. The aroma shows hints of dark fruit, caramel, chocolate, bourbon, and oaky vanilla. The flavor follows suit with the chooclate, dark fruits, and vanilla all blended nicely with the bourbon. There is some nice warming from the alcohol present, but it’s not overly hot. Full bodied, smooth, and low in carbonation with a long bourbon oak finish. This is a slow sipper, and a really barrel aged barleywine.

750ml bottle, courtesy GoT. The pour yields a hazy, caramel brown body that is crowned with a thin head of swirly tan foam and frothy bubbles. Dense sheeting marks the glass, indicating substantial viscosity, though just a few spots of lace remain behind. The aroma booms from the glass, rich chocolate and nougat notes enveloped in bold, woody bourbon and vanilla-heavy oak. Though it is on the boozy side, the nose really comes together well. The flavor follows suit, rich and caramelized, with a big nougat presence. Coco, vanilla, and bourbony wood linger on the palate. The mouthfeel is chewy, smooth, and appropriately lightly carbonated. It finishes alcoholic, burning a bit on the finish. This one is a massive slow sipper, and a pretty good one at that. Would make for a great wintertime fireside luxury.

Big thanks to GodOfThunder for the share of this tasty 2007 vintage!! It pours clear brown with copper edges and thin off white head. It has a rich juicy aroma starting with a little bit of oak then moving into oak, vanilla and a thin layer of thick chewy malty sweetness. The taste is similar starting with a pulse of thick syrupy sweetness then quickly becoming oak, bourbon and then some vanilla surfaces about midway. It ends with lingering smooth bourbon, oak notes and an echo of dark fruitiness.

Bottle shared by godofthunder...you rock man. Dark brown pour. Rich bourbon and caramel dominate the nose. Flavor is just bursting with bourbon, caramel, brown sugar, light chocolate and dark fruits. Seriously good beer!

cheers to Godofthunder for sharing this one. 2007 bottle. pours dark brown, thin beige head. aroma of bourbon, caramel, chocolate malts and roast. Found the overall aroma to be slightly under the palate which was filled with bourbon. taste, boozy, bourbon is all over this barley wine, some caramel and chocolate. Light to flat in carbonation this remains a well crafted beer.

Special thanks to Hoppymeal for getting this out to me. This was my first beer from Shoreline and I was seriously impressed. Pours a low-carbonated dark brown with little head. Aroma is strong bourbon, dark fruits, brown sugar, oak and more bourbon. The flavor packs a huge bourbon punch without being too hot. The barleywine stands up well to the bourbon and they compliment each other. Great beer.
