Commercial Description:
Monks brewed this beer for Lent, while fasting they were allotted a few liters of beer a day to sustain life. For forty days all they could consume was beer, so they made it strong, and hearty. Our dopplebock is both strong and hearty, while also being ultra smooth.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a red brown with a beige head. Malt and red fruit in the nose. Bitter red fruit malts with a light bakers chocolate and pine near the finish. Pretty ok beer.

Ruddy brown barely translucent, almost no off white head, clings to the glass edge. Some spotty lacing. Flavor is sweet fruity malt with a slightly acidic finish. No real roast character. Okay, not a great doppelbock.

Tap at the brewpub, full pour. Dark brown with ruby tint and medium creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, sweet dark fruit, plum a little chocolate. Flavor matched the aroma very well with sweet fruit, bitter-sweet chocolate and roasted malt with a little alc, yeast, some coffee, pretty nice. Syrupy, medium body. Tasty.

Dark roasted malt sweetness...caramel, dark fruits, and a touch of smoke. Very prominent ABV steps out of the shadows to tune you up a bit in the finish, but you probably had it coming to you.

Nice looking brew, a slightly hazed chestnut body with red highlights and a bubbly off-white head. The aroma has sweet toasted malts, dark caramel, and a hint of smoke and dark fruits. The alcohol is detectable in the flavor but is just enough to blend in nicely with all of the flavors reflected in the nose. Good stuff.

Packs a bit of a punch. Malty with an alcohol/caramel finish. Not for the weak. Little hops.

This draft brew from the brewery poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that was long lasting and left behind a transparent uncarbonated light brown colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy and malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The weak flavor contained notes of malt hops and sweet. A decent one that I would consider buying again.
