tjthresh (1746), Greenfield, Indiana, USA Nov 13, 2006 Pint at the brewpub. Poured a dark read, almost brown with no head. Light earthy hop aroma with some cara malts, and baked goods. Very bitter flavor that over powered most everything else. Kind of a standard palate. Easy to drink. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 7, 2006 draft - Pours yellow-amber in color and has a light hop and caramel malt aroma. The flavor is good and hoppy with enough malts to give it some body. It’s alright, though pretty average for the style. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 19, 2006 This bottled brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that was mostly lasting and left behind a transparent softly carbonated yellow-orange colored body. The weak aroma was hoppy and malty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start with a mellow finish. The strong flavor contained notes of mild malt and hoppy piney hops. Tmoney99 (4655), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Aug 21, 2006 Draft sample at brewery. Amber color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Light sour citrus and sweet malt aroma. Light to medium body with a dry texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration. railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Jul 2, 2006 this was ok but not my style to bitter for me i like the more hoppy beers or dark stouts hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Jun 21, 2006 Draft at Shoreline. Poured a white small hed that quickly dissipated with fair lacing, no visible carbonation, transparent, and a yellow hue. Malty, hoppy and a subtle hint of caramel. Flavor was bitter, malty and hops. Tingly palate. Medium body. jezmez68 (332), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Jun 10, 2006 I thought this was going to be another Bass Ale ripoff. But apparently, it is an ESB, which I was not really familiar with.
It’s a lot more hoppy and has more presence than your typical pale ale, but then, maybe that’s the point. DrnkMcDermott (1831), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA Dec 8, 2005 Updated: Dec 13, 2005Taste from growler at <a href=http://www.chibeer.org>Chicago Beer Society meeting & Randy Mosher birthday party, Dec. 1. The guy who brought it said this was their "small beer." Pours brown and little cloudy, with a yeasty smell. In my well-used sampler glass, it kicked up a respectable lacy head. Definite English session beer. A distinct Burton water profile. Decently done.
