The aroma was bready with some caramel and cherries. The taste was iced tea and toffee. A nice roasted coffee finish mixed with a little grapefruit. This reminded me of grapefruit. Very good. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 3, 2007 I wouldn’t have known this was an Irish Ale unless I saw it on this page. Thought it was an amber. Not bad. It pours a deep reddish amber body with a firm beige head. Plenty of intricate lacework here. It’s got a malty, fruity (mainly sweet apples) aroma with a hit of PNW hops to spice it up. The hop flavors - grapefruit, zest of lemon, a touch of pine - build up as you drink leading to a moderately bitter, dry finish. Pretty decent.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 10, 2006 I don’t really consider this a "red" ale. Mayhap it could be an ale, but it doesn’t show the "red" characteristics.
Pretty hoppy for a red beer. More aggressive than I’m used to in a red beer.
I like it though. If they don’t have the Pinhook Pilsner, I drink this. Tmoney99 (4747), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 8, 2007 Draft sample at Back Road Fall Fest 2007. Poured hazy brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Moderate sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 5, 2005 On Tap: Very cloudy burgundy hue with small frothy head and excellent lace. The aroma has notes of toasted and caramel malt, grassy hops, earthy yeast esters, and a bit of veggie. The taste starts surprisingly bitter more akni to an APA than a malty ale. A bit of citric twang and papery finish. The feel is lively with a astrengent aftertaste. Overall not bad but not what I expected. sneagrams3 (1757), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
