Commercial Description:
An imperial IPA, full bodied and balanced with a huge amount of hops. Three types of high alpha average hops combined to hop over the top in this beautiful beer, served in a ten and a half ounce glass.

On tap at the Backroad Fall Fest and served in a shaker, this brew poured a slightly hazy copper/orange color with a decent sized beige head that slowly faded away. Some light lacing was left around the glass. The aroma of the beer consisted of orange and grapefruit with some underlying caramel notes. The flavor was full of hoppy citrus, and finished off with sweet toffee and caramel notes. The mouthfeel was medium to full-bodied with light carbonation. A nice beer from Shoreline.

Big fan of 2XIPA’s but for some reason I’m not giving up the love for 3 Sum IIPA like of the rest of the raters. Strong bitterness that smooths with notes of citrus, spice, pine, and sweet malts. Flat pour, and some cardboard, and earth aromas. Bartender @ the Shoreline told me the history of the brewpub, and makes me believe this 2XIPA will only improve. I will try it again the next time I’m back in Michigan City for a re-rate.

cloudy orange, frothy off white head, sweet pine and citrus aroma with lots of earthy balance, lots of sweet pine and tangerine flavor, light bitterness adds balance but stays out of the way of the hop flavor, nice crystal sweetness adds to the complexity,

Sample at Indiana Microbrewers Festival - Aroma of earthy hops, caramel and fruit. Pours transparent light brown with a small head. Flavor is earthy citrus hops, caramel and pineapple. Palate is crisp and tart. A very nice IIPA.

Personal Milestone: Indiana Rating #100 (out of 3436) !!!!!
And it’s a dandy for this hop-head. Pouring a hazy dark amber and sporting a slender ecru head, this has a sturdy aroma of pine, grapefruit, and zest over a malty sweetness. The caramel backbone provides just enough strength to support the strong hoppy bitterness that lasts long, long into the finish. Very nice.

I love IIPA’s, so I was really looking forward to this. Everything about the brew was great, except for a funkiness in the nose. Hints of rotting meat is how I would describe it. I couldn’t get past it. Perhaps it was an off day for me. Will try again.

On tap at the brewpub. Hazy orange or boarderline brown color. No head to speak of. Huge piney bubble gum aroma. Same in the flavor. Very well blended. Smoooooooooooth. Easy to drink. Light on the palate. This beer will get a lot of folks in trouble.
