cloudy orange, frothy off white head, sweet pine and citrus aroma with lots of earthy balance, lots of sweet pine and tangerine flavor, light bitterness adds balance but stays out of the way of the hop flavor, nice crystal sweetness adds to the complexity,

On tap at the 2007 GTMW: Pours a transparent dark golden bronze with a well-lacing light tan head. Aroma of earthy grassy catnip and grapefruity hops with some mildly sweet caramel malt. Body starts with a good crisp pale malty sweetness and fresh bittersweet warming hoppy finish. Crisp and enjoyable, a good IIPA.

Personal Milestone: Indiana Rating #100 (out of 3436) !!!!!
And it’s a dandy for this hop-head. Pouring a hazy dark amber and sporting a slender ecru head, this has a sturdy aroma of pine, grapefruit, and zest over a malty sweetness. The caramel backbone provides just enough strength to support the strong hoppy bitterness that lasts long, long into the finish. Very nice.

Draft sample at Back Road Fall Fest 2007. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Heavy grapefruit citrus hoppy and small alcohol aroma. Medium body with slick texture. Medium bittersweet caramel flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

On tap: An unfiltered deep amber almost brown hue with a small head and good lace. The aroma has a major fruity vapors from the three additions of Summit hops (pineapple and pear), white pepper, biscuity malt, and a hint of phenolic activity. Smells the part of a Double IPA, onward to the tasting...

A fresh dry-hopped sharp hop bitterness and citric character greets you right from the start but I found the beer mostly balanced by the use of Caramalt. A nice peppery finish and even a note of woodiness too. The palate is lively and sharp, fully refreshing with only a mild astringent finish. The 8.0% ABV is mostly hidden. Maybe the best brew Sam has done to date, classic to the new genre, Mikey Likey!

This draft brew from a beer festival poured a very small sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were fully diminished and left behind a uncarbonated orange brown colored body and a fair lacing. The weak aroma was hoppy floral and malty. The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The flavor contained notes of tingly hops and soft floral. An OK brew just nothing special.

Draft. Very small tan head that mostly diminished, virtually no lacing, transparent, no carbonation observed, and an orange hue. Nose was lightly malty, light caramel, hoppy, citrus, and pine. Ditto for the flavor. Fairly smooth mouthfeel and medium in body. Nicely done given the style, but not as hoppy tasting as I was expecting. Worthy of a try.

Substantial PNW hopping present here...grapefruit and pinesol, on top of a sweet caramel malt bottom. Really drinks more like a regular American IPA to me.
