goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA May 2, 2008 Many I wish I was sharing this with other raters. Growler. Poured a hazed amber with an off white head. I haven’t had a DIPA like this in quite a while. Strong hop forward aroma of pine, grapefruit and sweaty hop aroma. I am guessing there is malt in there by the sweetness. The flavor is a mix of hops and malt but leans definitively to the hops. Pine flavor in the middle with a moderate amount of bitterness that runs for quite a while on the dry finish. Medium body with no signs of alcohol. That is until I down the growler, then I will be the sign. Another winner for Short’s and my new MI hookup Derek
drewbeerme (1782), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 17, 2008 on tap at GTMW ’08. pours hazy gold white head. caramel, minty, estery aroma, not that hoppy. peppery, minty, estery, fresh citrus and grapefruit hop notes. pretty dry too. alcohol noticed but it is so dry that this works. highly drinkable. pantanap (725), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 15, 2008 gtmw 08....semi-clear dark orange brown pour. medium off-white head... abundance of piney citrus hops in the nose. pretty nice.... really hoppy flavors and a very dry finish. bitter citrus hops that last long through the finish. very nice. General_Gao (2434), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 12, 2008 GTMW ’08. Poured a hazy copper/medium orange color. The head was light tan with a yellowish tint. The aroma was a nice balance of malty caramel and flowery hops. Medium bodied with moderate to high hop bitterness (7 out of 10) that lingered and lingered. Nice flavor profile including the likes of sprucy/citrusy hops, caramel, and toasted bread. I also picked up a hint of bacon mixed in there somewhere. Tasty. Philip (378), Illinois, USA Aug 12, 2008 Great Taste 2008. Short’s really put on a show -- they surprised me at the festival. Pours a nice mahogany color and leads into grapefruit, hay, and a nice chewiness of a good IIPA. Probably the best IIPA I had of the day, which is saying a lot. Nice work, Shorts! BBB63 (3767), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jul 30, 2008 2008 MiBGF: Deep sunset coppery hue with a great head and lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and bready malts, moderate piney and herbal hops, and some pepper but seems a tad weak. The taste is bitter and citric with some catty undertones. Caramel and metallic was well, balanced but seems dull towards the finish. The initial mouth feel is sharp and biting, astringent and muddled upon the finish. Not bad but not living up to the hype either.
