GABF 09 Odd aroma wouldn’t have said orange, not bad, but different. Odd flavor intriguing, but a bit off lemon grass w/ some blood orange over a bit of alcohol. Not that good.

GABF 2009. Have to go against the crowd on this one and say it was a little odd for my tastes, and not really in a good way. Was looking forward to trying all Short’s stuff but came away a little disappointed. Orangish-amber color with a creamy off-white head. Aroma is loads of blood orange, spices, and pepper. Flavor is highly citric with a little too much tangy orange as well as earth, spices, lots of pepper, and wheat. Palate is somewhat astringent with medium body. Just a bit off in my opinion, but far from bad.

GABF2009 - tons of spruce and juicy hop goodness - a lot of nice heat that seems to be equally from alcohol and the peppercorns - quite a bit of sweet orange through the middle, then some tangy orange zest through the finish - the wheat finally comes through on the end, lending itself well to the tanginess of the orange peel - ends peppery and fairly bitter - another good-not-great brew from shorts.

bvc you are the man, man for sharing this rarity. Shared this with some cool dudes on the roof of my girlfriends apartment. Cool dudes present were bvc, suzygreenberg, me, mj, tar, and after4ever. Super spicy hop nose, lots of orange citrus. Earth as well. Really intriguing nose on this one. Dark amber pour nice lasting head. The flavor is full of citrus and spice. Oranges, pepper, and earthy bitterness. Perhaps a little too spicy for my liking, but it still was fantastic nonetheless. Light alcohol warmth, but at 11.7% it was hidden well. Fuck yeah hoes! Hey Terrel Pryor, you should learn to go through your progressions please!

really glad I got to try this before it kicked. On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep orange brown with a small tan head. Aroma was sharp citrus, sweet malt, and some bitter hop notes. Taste was much the same, big full malt throughout, some spice, sharp citrus zest, bitter grapefruit and some lingering sweetness. This was pretty smooth I thought and hid the alcohol very well. Really nice job here.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub, a wheatwhine with a lot of oranges and peppercorn. Dark brown and lacey. Full mouthfeel. Malty and licorice.

5oz sample at brewery 7/2/09-Pours an amber body with no head. Aroma of sweetness. Taste of malt, sweetness, citrus, hops, and alcohol. This is a full bodied brew which is well balanced and has some nice flavors. Great brew.

Snifter at the brewery. Pours a dark shade of copper - much like a barleywine - with a creamy tan head. Smells of black pepper, malt, and citrus. Tastes of underripe oranges, particularly the zest, along with plenty of malt, further pepper notes, and an unapologetic finish. A bit of a beast.
