12 oz. bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with a fleeting small white head. The initial burst of aroma was almost candy like it was so sweet. After breathing a bit, the aroma settled into citrus, vegetal, oak, more mild sweetness, and alcohol. The flavor is big on the caramel and vegetal up front before giving way to vanilla, oak, alcohol, and citrus hops toward the finish. Seconds after the sip has disappeared, a more general bitterness becomes more prominent. The more I drink, I do get the mint that others have mentioned in their ratings. Medium to full bodied with light carbonation.

12oz bottle. thanks to Kan for bringing this back from the brewery. pours hazy amber with white head. aroma of fusel alcohol, oak, sweet, and vegetal. flavor is vegetal, minty, touch of charred toasted oak, and sweet fusel alcohol notes. some sips went down easier than others and it started to grow on me but this is not a very good barrel aged IIPA.

Pours caramel brown with a unique nose of oak, alcohol and very faint hops. The beer was a bit all over the place. Should have taken better notes.

Bottle thanks Brian: Another solid offering from Shorts here. Aroma is musty citrus, some traces of bourbon possibly, oak and light vanilla. Flavor is citrus/grapefruit rind, dry, and finishes woody.

12oz bottle purchased at the brewery. Wild and unusually paired aromas of caramel, subdued rubber/leather, light boozy whiskey, cherry pasty, and citrusy hops (especially orange). Strange bedfellows which came together nicely. Fruitier and sweeter than than the Anniversary Ale Part Deux Original Version. Medium bodied with mild hop bitterness (3 out of 10). Flavors included caramel, tree bark, subdued whiskey, and vanilla. There was also a mild, but distinct, mint note. Yes, mint. Carbonation was on the low end of the spectrum.

bottle from mibirder. Thanks sean. I was a little sceptical of trading for an aged iipa, but this one does not disappoint. Very complex with more depth than most iipa’s. Sweet and hoppy up front with bourbon and oak finishing notes. Very good.

12oz bottle thanks to michigan pal, derek..... cloudy solid orange brown pour with a thick light beige head that thins out a bit but still remains apparent....aroma was equal parts bourbon and soft vanilla with some wood and bittering pine hops..... flavors start off woody and sweet initially but then evolves to more of a bitter pine and grapefruit blast midway through and on through the finish. decent carbonation and mouthfeel.

Hazy dark copper body with a light yellowish khaki head. The aroma is massive grapefruit with some notes of black tea. There is also some medicinal quality, but it is complementary. The mouthfeel is thick and sticky. The taste has lots of rich grapefruit and leathery notes. There is also some oak character, but it is underneath the tremendous citrus character. There are also notes of almonds. This woudl have been pretty good without the barrel aging.
