12 oz. bottle picked up for me by heemer77, thanks Eric. shared last night with illini08. poured a mostly clear golden bronze with not nuch head. aroma was oak, bourbon, grapefruit and some alcohol. flavor was an even blend of the oak, bourbon, vanilla, some biscuit and caramel with a very citric grapefruity dry finish. this was a very nice after dinner sipper!

Bottle shared by ogglethorp: Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. Aroma, grape fruit comes through nicely along with some other citrus notes, pale and caramel malts, along with the oaky bourbon notes. Flavor, the grapefruit is very forward, and there is a good dose of citrusy hops as well, vanilla, bourbon and oaky notes are evident towards the finish. This was a definite treat, a unique barrel aged beer to me, I really enjoyed it.

Bottle at the brewery. Pours a copper color with a smallish yellow-beige colored head. Aroma is bourbon, oak, grapefruit, orange, pine, light caramel. Flavor is a nice blast of grapefruit, light bourbon, oak, lemon, pine, caramel. Body is quite full, medium carbonation, finished bitter. This was another fantastic brew that blew me away. Perfect balace, nice hint of bourbon and wood throughout, nice notes of grapefruit! Awesome. One of the best use of bourbon barrel aging that I’ve had yet!!

Appearance: hazy dark orange, wispy beige head,

Appearance: Pours a clear, amberish body that lacks any sort of head. Smell: Flowery, fresh grapefruit aroma good enough to be a candle scent. Get on that, Yankee Candle Co. Taste: Hmm, well that’s different. Toasted bread crumbs. Not much in the way of sweetness. A mouthful of fresh flowers. Great juicy grapefruit taste. Moderate bitterness grows to a citrusy, powerfully citric finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: That is one interesting beer. My favorite of these three Short’s Anniversary Ale (Part Deux) Beers.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with hoppymeal (thanks!!). Tasted side by side by side (Original , Dry hop, & Grapefruit versions). Poured a medium and hazy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, citrus, caramel, vanilla, some wood, and pine. Tastes of citrus rinds, grapefruit, caramel, wood, and vanilla. This one was definitely more ’citrusy’ than the other 2 and was more balanced. Again the barrel aging was done very nicely. Shorts kicks ass again!

Bottle. Barely any head on top of the dark copper body. The aroma was definite grapefruit with some fresh bread. Lots of alcohol in the nose. The taste was grapefruit with bread crust. A little bit of soap comes through in the tangy finish. Good stuff, I am surprised this flavor combo hadn’t been tried before.
