Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of grapefruit, as well as medium notes of hops. THe flavor is sweet - yet with an acidity from the strong notes of grapefruit, combining with medium notes of hops, leading to an acidic finish, where the alcohol burns in the throat.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with hoppymeal (thanks!!). Tasted side by side by side (Original , Dry hop, & Grapefruit versions). Poured a medium and hazy amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, citrus, caramel, vanilla, some wood, and pine. Tastes of citrus rinds, grapefruit, caramel, wood, and vanilla. This one was definitely more ’citrusy’ than the other 2 and was more balanced. Again the barrel aging was done very nicely. Shorts kicks ass again!

Bottle sampled on 10/13/07: Transparent bronze golden with a thin ring of off-white head. Aroma of slightly soapy floral notes and big citrusy grapefruit and oranges with a touch of sweet caramel. Body starts fairly full and slightly sweet with big grapefruity hoppiness drying toward a more bitter citric finish. An interesting brew.

Bottle shared by Alexsdad06. Poured a cloudy copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good to excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex citrus hoppy and woody aroma with a small alcohol tone. Medium to full body with a dry smooth texture. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of moderate to long duration. This is a standout beer.

Bottle. Barely any head on top of the dark copper body. The aroma was definite grapefruit with some fresh bread. Lots of alcohol in the nose. The taste was grapefruit with bread crust. A little bit of soap comes through in the tangy finish. Good stuff, I am surprised this flavor combo hadn’t been tried before.

Poured a hazy amber color with no head or lacing. Aroma of grapefruit, vanilla, floral hops, citrus, light pine, and wood. Taste of sweeter grapefruit, citrus, light acid, sweeter caramel, and toffee with a bit of alcohol as well.
