Tasted side by side by side (Original , Dry hop, & Grapefruit versions). Poured a medium and clear amber color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, caramel, ’sticky’, and some pine. Tastes of caramel, citrus, pine, and a nice bitter finish. Out of the 3, I found this one to be the most bitter. egajdzis (3636), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2008 Poured a hazy amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, pine, citrus fruits, and light toffee malts. Taste was hoppy, equally as hoppy as the dry hopped version, with less vanilla. Citrus, pine, and grapefruit, with a bit of alcohol in the finish. Surprised this is so under-rated, Thanks Steve! Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 26, 2007 7-22-06. Dark copper, no head. Huge hop presence up front. Pine resin and citrus zest. Huge malt backbone. Reminds me of bigfoot in a way. Flavor confirms this, very heavy malt backbone, resinous. Huge pine and grapefruit. Over the top IIPA, few tweaks and this would be quite nice. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 4, 2007 From a 12oz Bottle. Purchased at the brewpub 9/2/2007. Transparent, honey gold colored pour with a thin wisp of white head. A vigorous swirl brings forth more carbonation, but it takes considerable coaxing to bring it out from the honey-weight viscousness of the drink. A thick nose of malt sugar/hop fruit notes abound, spinning off combinations that produce cherry licorice, sherried apricots, and candied orange peels. The nose suggests a high presence of citrusy hops, but for the time being they are content to let the fruity sweetness take the center stage. Full bodied, lightly carbonated mouthfeel. Lots of sticky lacing leaves legs on the sides of my glass, and this thickness is clearly evident on the tongue as well. Sweet and sticky. Notes of caramel and vanilla. Out from behind the sticky honey beginning emerges an angry hop monster. Spruce resins and white grapefruit pulp climb unmercifully on the palate, savagely destroying any sugars in its path. Interesting. The flavors are good, as are the bold hops, but the level of stickiness makes this one difficult to swallow after only a few ounces. I’d love to see what all of the different renditions have done to this unique brew.
