Tasting at Papsoe
Hazy dark amber color; creamy head. Nice hoppy aroma, fruity, strange grapefruit, horse barn. Strong caramel flavor, medium sweetness, good hopping, light citrus fruitness, hop resins. Strong ending bitterness, a bit harsh. Good.

750ml via trade with alexsdad. Shared with Dalekliz and others at NYE my house 08. Pours dark amber with a tan head. Nose is big and malty. Not amazing but interesting. Taste is slightly hoppy, some spiciness and some good old malt. Decent double red, not amazing.

750ml bottle. No. 197/780. Aroma stanks of crystal malt, piney hops. Dried apple skin. Wet cedar chest. Slightly vegetal and beefy? Dishsoap. Just a hint of spicy hops. A bit of cut flowers (roses). Inoffensive, and mostly pleasant ASA aroma. Pours a gorgeous dark, ruby/copper with a lasting white head. Very pretty looking beer... and it*s all down hill from here. Flavor is full of wet, old leaf pile. Wet grass. Sucking on a moist chunk of wood. The malt and the hops seem way past their prime here. Very soapy. Earthy (not in a good way). Sour malt? Sour hops? Not sure how that*s possible, but it*s happened here. Fairly tart... but unintentionally so (is my guess). Some hoppy and spruce tip-like spiciness. Crystal maltiness... Hmmm... Medium bodied. Waxy texture. Finishes soapy. May be past its prime here... Thanks Daniel!

Bottle shared by alexsdad06. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate complex caramel malt and tart fruit aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium complex balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable beer.

Bottled. A hazy deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of fruit and alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, fruit, and alcohol, leading to a dry bitter finish where notes of straw lingers around.
