Shorts smagning med klubben. Sort øl med et lille beigefarvet skum. Lakridser som mest minder om Pletskud, peber, lidt surhed, stærk, vanille.

Shorts tasting with The Club +a few. Pours black with an off-white head. Sweet with aromas of vanilla, oak and smoke... Good. Also aromas of hints of sweet liquirish... Bad. Low carbonation. Medium body. Light bitter sweetness.

Black with red highlights, and a lasting light brown head. Aroma is sweet licorice and chocolate. Extremely cloying flavour of sweet licorice candy and sweet milk chocolate.

Bottle @ Kolding Shorts Tasting, 18.09.08.
Pours a great red with a fine, creamy, beige head. Aroma is sweet, lots of good, mild liquorice and vanilla. Fine, creamy mouthfeel. Flavour has Nesquick-like sweet cocoa, lots of liquorice, roasted malts, cocoa and good vanilla. Really nice.

Dark brown pour with a tan head. Aroma is BLACK LICORICE. Seriously, I don’t get much else going on in this, maybe a touch of mint. Flavor has plenty as well, but it has some vanilla, mint, and lots of roasted malts. Finishes lightly bitter with some sweetness. Very interesting.

Bottle. [Drikkeriget Grand Shorts Imperial Series tasting, thanks to Jeppe for another great session] Average creamy beige head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma of peppermint, vanilla, aniseed, roasted malt, coffee, liquorish, mild chocolate. Over the palate came spicy and mild harsh bitter roasted notes that felt a bit unpleasant. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and thick texture. Moderated bitter flavor with some counter sweetness. Roasted bitter malty finish.

GABF 2007. It was tough for me to decide whether this or the Spruce was better, as I stood at the Shorts booth for what seemed like a solid 20 minutes getting refills with cquiroga and awaisanen. Nice head, even in the small tasting glass. Smells like ouzo with toffee. Smooth lactic sweetness in the mouth, craisins without the tang, and of course anise (although this is much more pronounced in the smell than in the taste, where it is more of an echo counterpoint in the finish). Great and unique beer; kudos to the guys at Shorts.
