Cornfield (4343), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Apr 30, 2008 I belive this was brought to DLD by one of the nefarious Northside Gang. Most likely pantanap, who refuses to be normal in any sense of the word. Thanks, Kan. But I had a hard time with this one. To me, the name says it all. It looks like a Schwarzbier, but it smells of black licorice. Period. There’s an element of a rye-like peppery spiciness to the flavor, but it’s overshadowed, NAY!, overwhelmed by the strong licorice taste. It took me quite a while at the The LoSBD table eating spicy munchies to clear my delicate palate before I could continue with my beer tastings. Given all that, the sun had just ducked behind some clouds (again!) and the wind was picking up (once more!), so I appreciated the sturdy ABV.
