Picked up a growler for Styles. Haven’t had this is a few years so lets see what I’ve been missing. Pours a orangish brown w/ few finger khaki head. Slight lacing on my goblet. Starts w/ some pumpkin pie spices of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and pumpkin. Little bit of malty sweetness too. Wish the aroma was a little more intense though. It starts a little creamy w/ similar flavors as the nose, but just less pronounced. Not much in the after taste. You get the pumpkin and spice flavors in the beginning then it kind of fades to nothing. Starts creamy on the palate and the flavors hang around for a little bit. There a slight warming feeling probably due to the spices. Nice sessionable Pumpkin/Autumn ale. Wish the flavors were more pronounced.

Growler courtesy GoT and Northernbrews. Pours a dark amber color with a reddish hue with a small, foamy tan colored head. The aroma shows notes of the caramel malt base to go with some clove, graham cracker, and some mild pumpkin. The flavor follows this same line although pretty subdued and muddled with the cinnamon and clove spices washed over by the caramel malt. Not too much in the way of pumpkin. Light bodied and easy drinking and not overspiced which is good. Just not a lot of substance to get excited about.

Rich amber pour. Lots of cloves in the aroma. Flavor has light spice and pumpkin pie. Ok.

October ’09 O-Town Throwdown courtesy of godofthudner pours amber, thin off-white head. Aroma and flavor, pumpkin was light in the nose, hints of grain and malt, light bready palate with some spices that were more hidden. Hints of caramel and a rather weak pumpkin finish.

On tap at the HopCat. You shouldn’t really put the word "funk" in a beer unless its some sort of wild/sour anymore. But, regardless, it sat there kind of orangish with an off white head. Nice, spicy aroma. Flavor is more bitter than expected. The spice is there, though. It’s actually quite nicely bitter: theres none of that weird fake sweetness the style usually commands. It’s like sitting next to someone on an airplane you didn’t like when you were a kid, but after talking you realized he wasn’t all that horrible.

Growler… October ’09 O-Town Throwdown… Cloudy, dirty orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The aroma is a touch earthy, but mainly offers pumpkin and spice. Medium-bodied with fizzy carbonation. The well-balanced flavor is lightly spicy. Crisp, mostly clean finish. Thanks to GoT and northernbrews for sharing the growler!

Growler, courtesy GoT & Northernbrews. Pours a hazy, brownish-red amber hue. A small, frothy, ivory colored head leaves spotty, scattered lacing on the glass. The aroma shows a brown sugar and caramel malt base, with hints of graham cracker and mildly spicy ginger. There’s not much pumpkin on the nose, but there is some. Flavors are similar, but seem kind of dull and undefined and muddled. The brown sugar malts seem to dull any underlying pumpkin flavors, and the graham and ginger just seem to run together. Light in body, it drinks easy but lacks in heft. I like that it’s not overly spiced, but it is otherwise pretty underwhelming.

Courtesy GoT. Muddy amber. White carbonation. Fall spice aroma and flavor, no clearly discernible pumpkin. Light body, balanced, easy. Meh.
