Shorts smagning med klubben. Uklar orange med et lille råhvidt skum. Denne har masser af kulsyre. Der er ingefær, orangeskal, citrus og noget gær. Også peber. Vi kalder det aftenens Sushi øl.

750ml bottle via trade with alexsdad, shared with my girlfriend Cyn who got very excited about the name. I love ginger and rye so why not. Pours a beautifal gold with a big frothy head that leaves a lot of lacing as it falls. Nose has notes of ginger, rye, lemon and slight maltiness. Taste is interesting and overall pretty funky (in an non sour way). Lots of ginger though subdued over a big rye beer. This is drinkable interesting and has a lot of nice qualities.

750mL bottle, #86 of 1104, bottled 2.27.07, big thanks to Mike (weepster) for picking this up. Pours a Oh man, this smells nice. Plenty of citrusy ginger and spicy rye right up front in the aroma--between the two I can’t tell exactly where some perfumey notes are coming from--with some earthy sweet caramel in the background. Light alcohol is noted. Smells like it’d go nice with some spicy ethnic food. Clear medium orange with a 2 finger very light beige yellow frothy head, good retention and lacing. Flavor continues with lots of fresh ginger and spicy rye and fresh ground black pepper--as fresh as this beer smells (and tastes), I can’t hardly believe that it’s almost a year old. There is some light caramel sweetness that does make an appearance. Burps ginger. Bone dry finish with bitterness around a 3-4. The alcohol is masked pretty well. A little bit overcarbonated with a medium body. Very impressed with this beer. At room temperature, this beer picks up notes of sugar cookie in the aroma and in the flavor.

Another unique brew from Shorts. Didnt get a lot of ginger in this, but im not entirely sure I know what ginger tastes like? The rye comes threw though, and works with the weizen base. Fairly spicey afterburn; from the ginger perhaps? Tasty stuff.

bottle 750ml 25€ shared at Pikkulintu Helsinki 28.03.09 amber small white head. Pleasant sour spicy balanced ginger lemon. Reminds me about summer on last snow storm day of this winter. Alcohol well hidden under spicy body.

Poured from a 750mL Bottle #8 of 1104. Aroma is a dusky glow of light earth that penetrates some semblance of tangy wheat malt, with some Chinese good and soft sugars. Light esters, maybe. Pours a beautiful clear, pale amber, tending towards golden wheat. Nice sparkling carbonation and a frothy fill of crisp white soap, lacing the glass. Right onto the tongue this is a crushing. A glancing blow of vivacious ginger aromatics. Hot and spicy in the ginger way. This combines with the 7.8 to really make it feel like it’s punishing you with alcohol, but it’s mostly ginger presence. Spicy. Follows with a confusing aftermath of chinese five spice, light malt character and nips of yeast. It’s like a ginger bomb goes off in your mouth and you don’t quite know what to think of it. Lots of pepper, both Szechuan and Sambar. This would make any Chinese dish infinitely more interesting to drink. In the end, it’s a little explosive and ragged to be put into the league of refined beers, but it’s an exciting experiment that works pretty cleanly. Nice. Thanks for sharing Sean!
