| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 6, 2009 Had a bottle of this sitting on my doorstep the day it was launched in MI. pours a clouny orange. Lots of citrusy orange, some grapefruit. A very fruity IPA, with a nice hope tinge that lingers on the pallate well after a sip. Has everything you would want in a good IPA. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA

Citrusy hop aroma that I would expect from a nice IPA. Very hop bitter that leaves a lasting impression well after the fact. trayns (241), Beverly Hills, Michigan, USA

Aroma is mostly of citrus and hops, maybe a slight hint of caramel sweetness. Taste is big, lots of woddy pine flavor, with a bit of vanilla sweetness. Very nice sweet malt balance with the huge flavorful hops. Great overall brew. erikcallaway (4), Grand Rapids, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 3, 2009 A pretty strong IPA, it hits you with a consistent hop aroma and flavor. It had a slightly cloudy amber color with a creamy head. I liked this beer, but thought that the hop was not terribly balanced. Heavy on the nose, I did not detect many notes that it would seem other people have when it comes to citrus and floral aromas. It had a bitter start and a bitter finish, with a crisp and clean mouthfeel. It left no discernable aftertaste, which is a real plus for the overall rating. alexsdad06 (1082), Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Draft at the brewpub. Pours a hazy light amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma was a burst of fresh citrusy hops, grapefruit, pine, and some sweet malt. The flavor is more fresh citrus hops, grapefruit, moderately sweet malt, herbal, pine, dry bitter finish. The bitterness lingers for a while. Medium bodied and very enjoyable. BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA

Well, given the accolades I’ve read for this beer, I believe it was sort of a let down. It looked and smelled the part, but the flavor was just not balanced properly. This could be a matter of a bad batch, or simply the bar not cleaning out their lines, but what I had tonight is not something I would call a top notch IPA, as it’s overall score suggests. Oh well, you win some you lose some, Cheers!
