On tap. Aroma and taste are hops bitterness. Dark amber color. Medium body. Medium head. No confusing this IPA for a water-lager! Had first bottle on 4/13/09. Again felt that taste was almost all hop bitterness, especially an extremely bitter after-taste!

@ Michigan Beerfest-on tap-pours a foamy light tan head and amber/copper color. Aroma is resin/some lemon hops, secondary medium malt. Taste is resin/some lemon hops-some bitter, secondary medium malt backbone. Nice.

Draft at HopCat. Orange-gold and slightly hazy with a nice frothy head. Lots of lacing left behind throughout the imbibing. Nose is massively hoppy, mostly floral but also some grapefruit citrus. Taste is similarly skewed toward the floral end with a lot of earthy spiciness and a long, bitter citrus finish. Not much malt to speak of, and the beer suffers a bit from the lack of balance. Medium carbonation and a hearty mouthfeel.

Draft @ Shorts. Pours a clear, bright golden-orange color; off-white head with fine-bubbled lacing. Generous amounts of earthy and citrus bitterness in the aroma; resiny, fresh, dripping hop character; dry at the core; solid hoppy nose. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy, resiny earthy and citrus hoppiness; relaxed carbonation; intensely drinkable, resiny, dry IPA; very good, with just a touch of alcohol showing through at the perimeter; some dried red fruits at the core. Nicely dry and resiny. Lengthy, dry finish: chewy earthiness and citrus bitterness, lightly toasty, nicely dry.

Pours a bright, almost irredescent, completely hazy orange with a fluffy and short-lived white head. It recedes to a ring quickly and leaves only a trace of lacing. The smell has a big resiny hop character but with some nice grapefruit and orange hints as well. The sweet malt base is in there as well but only as a compliment to the big hop aromas. Taste is earthy resin up front and a substantial malt backbone before giving way to a lingering citrus bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly sticky with a bitterness that tickles the tongue throughout. This is another very good brew from the guys at Shorts, a well-balanced yet very hoppy IPA.

tap at shorts....cloudy orange brown with a soapy white head....light and sweeter citris fruits, somewhat grassy aroma.... flavors had grassy but more citrus hops. light bitterness in the finish what lingers on the palate awhile....i think i enjoyed this one more than what my rating reflects.

Was it the crappppppy service at Ashley’s or that I just didn’t get into this? Or did it perhaps clash with the previous beer? At any rate, found it rather grainy and lacking in the lupa-liciousness.

Draft: Poured at Shakespeare’s in Kalamazoo...dark copper in color with a medium cream head, good retention and lacing. Resin and floral hop notes dominate with some light citrus and pale malts. Strong pineapple and bitter pine flavors at the forefront, some mild floral notes and light malts. Decent.
