Juicy citrus and grapefruit hops in the nose. Those same juicy grapefruit and pine flavors with a strong pine bitterness that is extremely bitter for its accompanying malt backbone. The bitterness is slightly cloying, and finishes dry. Good parts of an IPA, they just don’t come together as well as they otherwise could, especially compared to the Stellar Ale. Good IPA though. gearbike (420), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 14, 2008 On tap at a new brewpub. Big wiff of hops. Real bitter leave the mouth a bit dry. But the pine flavor is balanced with a bit of sweetness. On the edge of to much of a good thing but it works well. RAYBOY01 (1870), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2008 Hazy orange pour with fluffy white head. The nose is medium citrus/pine hops. The flavor is decently balanced between the lightly roasted caramel/crystal malts and a substantial bitter PNW hop bite...pine and citrus, with touches of cattiness. The finish seemed a bit harsh, but I’m not complaining. hombrepalo (780), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Big citrus aroma, orange, tangerine, grapefruit and lightly sweet malts. The flavor is pine, grapefruit, orange rind, a touch of bread and a chunky bitterness. Medium body with soft carbonation and a fairly dry, bitter end. Nice.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 7, 2008 Draft at the brewery: Golden orange pour with a thick head that really lasts. The aroma is sweet and fruity, hinting at the hop bomb waiting in the glass. A wall of bitterness hits the tongue first, offering lots of rindy grapefruit and hop resin. As my tongue acclimates to the bitterness, a blanket of caramel malts starts to emerge. The hops also soften, offering a full spectrum of flavors. Rosey perfume, candied oranges, pink grapefruit, apricots, peaches and lemons this IPA really runs the gamet. I really enjoyed the meaty middle, but the bitterness was hard for me to take. Tone down the IBUs and this would be fantastic in my book. As is, a very solid offering. drewbeerme (2315), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 4, 2008 In short: A very dry and super-highly drinkable grapefruity IPA. Kick-ass.
How: Tap at Hop Cat (Grand Rapids, Michigan)
The look: Cloudy golden yellow body with a long-lasting small white head
In long: Grapefruit and citrus on the nose. Lots of nice crisp (pils?) malts and a ton of fruity hops. Very much on the grapefruit/tart side of things as far as IPAs are concerned. What really made this one stand out is how dry it felt. Not quite sure how they pulled it off but it was dry, very dry, very very dry despite that generous juicy grapefruity hopping. I haven’t seen something so dry yet so fruity since my grandfather, the old fuck was telling everybody off and was almost senile. MoDog (927), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 1, 2008 On tap at HopCat and served in an English pint glass. This beer poured a slightly hazy amber with a one-finger thick head of quickly dissolving bubbly beige foam. The aroma of the beer was made up of fragrent orange and grapefruit, with a hint of caramel coming through. The flavor was a nice blend of bitter citrus and sturdy caramel malts. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with light carbonation. A pretty decent IPA.
