pale orange-gold pour with a creamy dense white head and drippy spots of lacing. seems a bit hazy.
the aroma is an assault of spicy, piney and floral hops... followed by orange, dirt and a trace of malty sweetness.
the palate is kinda flabby... there is not nearly enough ’complex malt bill’ to back up the floral, dirty, spicy, waxy pine, orange pith and earthy hops. i like my ipas hop forward and tooth hurting but something is off in this one. not bad, just missing...
the body is medium though the mouth feel is a bit on the thin side and lacking some oomph. 7/4/6/2.5/14/3.35

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 2, 2009 From coyotehunter via trade. The pour was clear copper with a white head that produced average lacing. The aroma was piney, resinous hops that crushes a tiny bit of sweetness from the malt. The flavor is equally one-dimensional with pine and light floral hops trampling all that get in the way. The mouthfeel was thin, and kind of slick. OK. MereLikesBeer (158), Royal Oak, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 31, 2009 I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617. Overall pretty decent. It poured a translucent amber orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is quite hoppy with hints of citrus, but not orange, maybe more on the lemon side. Taste is VERY hoppy, maybe even a bit too much for me. It is certainly a good beer, something I would enjoy drinking with a meal, but not something I would have more than one at a time of. A nice brew for MI. Hank1980 (776), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 26, 2009 Bottle from secret santa. Poured cloudy orange with a huge white head. Aroma piney earthy hops, toasted malt. Taste is bitter hop citrus & pine, with some sweet malt. Finish is very bitter. Mouth is medium bodied, with a fair amount of carbonation. Overall, a decent east coast IPA. SuIIy (1501), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a bright orange color with a very small white head. Nose is fresh piney hops and some light sweetness and biscuits. Palate is full and tingly. Flavors of piney, resiny hops and a light biscuity malt. jcr (1190), Jasper, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 23, 2009 Bottle. Deep golden body, slightly hazy. Bubbly white head mostly diminishing. Enticing aroma with lots of pine and resin. Hints of orange peel, ripe oranges, grapefruit skin. The flavor is lightly sweet and moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and heavily bitter with moderate acidity. Long, bitter aftertaste. Dry. Floral hops jump out in the finish. Medium body, sticky texture and lively carbonation. This IPA is all about bittering hops. The backbone could use more sweetness to balance the hops. The bitterness pretty much wipes out any subtlely a "complex malt bill" could possibly offer. Solid nonetheless especially if you love hop assertive IPAs. nbutler11 (771), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 22, 2009 Bottle at Atlas Bistro courtesy of psprings. Pours a hazy copper color with a creamy off-white head. Smells of hops and mild citrus zest. Tastes of further hops, chewy malt, and pine. Seemed oxidized, unfortunately, after only two months in the bottle. Look forward to possibly having this on tap. amg800 (35), Ada, Michigan, USA
