Commercial Description:
A complex malt and hop theme park in your mouth
Named after the hop flower Humulus Lupulus, this India Pale Ale style beer has enormous amounts of hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. With a very complex malt bill, flavors seem to meld with the hops to balance this ale and provide a ridiculous urge to sample more.

Courtesy of markwise. It pours gold with a bit of haze and thin off white head. The aroma has hops moving into almost harsh notes of grapefruit, tangelo and orange peel to go along with a bit of cherry and sweet malts. The taste is much the same with grapefruit and orange peel hop flavors. The hop flavors then pick up hop citrus hop bitterness that approaches being astringent. It has a nice modest malty backbone. Tasty stuff with an nice load of hop bitterness keeping it interesting.

12 oz. bottle share. Poured a cloudy orange/ amber with a foamy, off white head and spotty lacing. The aroma was acidity of grapefruit, and some orange, both tempered by resiny, pine notes. The flavor was muted aroma notes, dryness and a subtle bitterness. Decent IPA. Next go around as a 12oz. bottle sampling showed the aroma to have a little graininess and some malt sweetness. The flavor was smooth malt and more astringent bitterness this time.

At the brewery in May. Cloudy yellow gold topped with a thin white head. Piney hop aroma, lightly sticky. Very bitter up front and on the finish. Good, but a little 1-D.

Dense amber color with hints of cloudiness. Thick off-white persistent head. Distinct hoppy nose with strong pine forest notes with hints of citrus (grapefruit?) peel and pith. These notes are somewhat ephemeral and diminish if you let the glass sit. On the palate the initial bitter notes were a bit on the feisty side. This also diminished, or was it acclimation and anosmia? I like bitter brews but found the initial bite rather strong and single layered. The hops camouflage any malty notes. The bitter notes linger and add to the moreishness of the beer. Additional sips do not quench this and the bitterness becomes a bit tiring. Very good palate cleanser and food accompaniment. Medium body. I’d try it again.

12oz bottle. Pours murky orange with a foamy off-white head. This brew had a ton of sediment floating around in it. Aroma is of very earthy hops, citrus, caramel, pine and malt. Smells very earthy and inviting. Taste is of very earthy and gritty hops. The hops are very oily and burn quite a bit. Backbone is of caramel malt. Lots of pine and citrus in the taste as well. Each sip ends with a very bitter hop burn and a note of pine. Mouthfeel is medium and very oily. Nice alcohol warming effect. Not an overly hoppy beer, but it is a solid, and easy drinking beer.

Bottle... Pours hazy and golden with a mid-sized, creamy, white head. Fantastic retention. The aroma is all about PNW hops and pink grapefruit. Medium to full-bodied with tickling carbonation. The flavor is very bitter with only a rumor of acidity. Lengthy, bitter finish. Thanks to dmschefke for providing the bottle!

Thanks to mikesgroove for this one. Pours clear gold with a white head. Nose is caramel, pine, and and some tart white grapefruit. Flavor is similar with lots of malt for support- I get a lot of citrus, mainly grapefruit here. Finish of this light-medium bodied beer is tart with stinging grapefruit.
