75 cl bottle at my garage-tasting May 8th. Black color, tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and dark dried fruit. Flavor is the same, with bitternes both from hops and dark malt.

For my #1000 rating I have chosen a beer that both means a lot to me because of my admiration of Joe Short starting up such an amazing brewery while still being a young brewer and as a beer that I was able to drink over my "mini-moon" as a celebration of me and wife’s new life together. 750ml bottled 3/26/07 from the brewery. Opaque black with medium to large, creamy, burnt tan head. Aroma is dry roasted, bitter chocolate, cold coffee, some rich fruit notes. Flavor is chocolate pudding, slight roast, bitterness, medium-dry, nice. Medium to full and very creamy body. Overall a pretty outstanding brew, but roast comes off as being a slight bit too bitter with it being as dry as it is. Very nice and I think worthy of the celebration.

Bottle, thanks to WeeHeavySD for sharing! Pours a deep dark brown with a tan ring. Big burnt aroma, of toasted malt, wood, and a hint of carob. Taste has a lot of burnt toasted malt, carob, and wood. Lingering sharp burnt flavors. Different and tasty.

(Bottle at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-27 -- shared with Sinensis, isos et al. thanks!) Black. Small tan coloured head. Coffee and roastedness in aroma. Full bodied, oily and dry palate with medium carbonation. Coffee, roastedness, liquorice, bitterness and some taste that is unknown to me. Roasty aftertaste.
