The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, fresh vegetables and herbs (not like boiled cabbage) and I suppose it’s the carob. The flavour has sweetness and a peppery/chilli-like bite, notes of roasted malt, chocolate, licorice and carob. JCB (1777), Durham, North Carolina, USA

Lovely dark pour with a modest cafe au lait head and pretty impressive carbonation for the style. Smooth, inviting nose promises exactly the advertised main ingredient and immediately I want to make unfair comparisons with Stone 12. I won’t but, oops, I just did. Anyways, the body is not quite as thick as I would have liked but it’s substantial nonetheless. Crisp carb gives it a pleasant drinkability, but it’s still worth savoring the very fine roasted and choc malts, and of course the scrumptious carob. Give me some of those carob-coated peanuts, yo. Anyways, this one is fairly "traditional" for Joe Short, but it’s also typically superb. uhre (339), Denmark
