Jan 5, 2009 Growler... Pours very dark and sits mostly black in my glass with a small, creamy, off-white head. The nose is of coffee and chocolate – mocha. Full-bodied with a whole-milk mouthfeel and laid back carbonation. Sweet chocolate malt and molasses flanks bittersweet black malt and tannic hops to provide good balance. Finishes burnt, acrid and a touch tangy. Surprised to see this one clock in at 12.5%. <b>Thanks to GodOfThunder for providing the growler!</b>

Jan 3, 2009 Thanx to Godof Thunder for sharing this growler.Lots of roastiness goodness on the nose with some chocolate.I was suprised to read this was a 12.5% brew.No warming or any signs of alcohol here.A very good blend with the alcohol well hidden.

Pours deep black with a small tan head. Nose is roasty with alot of coffee and chocolate in the nose. The flavor is very good and I am floored to learn this is an imperial stout and of almost 13% at that. It drinks like a 6.5% stout. In fact the mouthfeel was a little thin, that was my biggest complaint. The flavor was fantastic with some light cherry and big chocolate coffee flavors. Very enjoyable.

Dec 31, 2008 growler sample at kuhnhenns winter solstice. big ups to those from michigan who brought this... pours a dark cola brown pour with a barely noticeable pour.... aroma of chocolate and roasted malt... roasty bitter dry chocolate flavors. pretty thin mouthfeel for an imperial stout. this one kind of let me down but glad to have tried it.

Dec 20, 2008 Growler. Black with just a bit of ruby around the edges. Aroma and flavor are more bitter coffee then roast. Really bitter espresso. Decent but not overwhelming. Really hoppy.

Dec 9, 2008 Recently back on tap. Pours almost black with a dense tan colored head. Aroma is chocolate, light coffee, hint of molasses. Flavor is again chocolate, some roast, hint of coffee and molasses. Palate is thinnish for a IS, medium carbonation, finished bitter. Nothing too exciting here, actually one of their less impressive stouts, IMO.
