heemer77 (3789), Savannah, Missouri, USA May 6, 2008 Another miss classified Shorts brew. This was like a nice big hefe with some of the chocolate malt, but was far from a stout. The body was black with a khaki colored head. The aroma was chocolate bananas with some walnuts. The taste was milk chocolate with some bananas. Another beer form Shorts that made me wonder why more commercial brewers aren’t trying things like this one. This obviously has some homebrew roots.
gearbike (373), West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA Oct 7, 2008 Not a stout but enjoyable. Roasted and salty. Would go well with some peanuts. Rather thin but makes it very drinkable. kmweaver (2129), Sparks, Nevada, USA Sep 18, 2008 Draft @ Shorts. Pours a very dark, chocolate-brown color; creamy, medium-tan head with solid retention and fine-bubbled lacing; great-looking pour. Good amounts of milk and softly bitter chocolate in the aroma; some roast and coffee; well-roasted with some burnt toast notes. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: strikes a very nice balance between its roasted characteristics and the soft, husky wheat tones underneath; lots of heavily roasted malts, milk and bitter chocolate, and creamy wheat notes throughout; creamy, dense, and generous beer that utilizes its wheat elements quite nicely; very tasty stuff. Medium finish: bitter chocolate, toasty malts, and some lightly husky wheatiness; on the dry side. pantanap (793), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 29, 2008 tap at shorts.....darker reddish brown pour with a frothy light brown head.... slighty bready aroma with just a hint of chocolate but was expecting a little bit more....chocolate became more apparent in the flavor with more of a roasted malt addition to it. semi-lively carbonation....pretty good. holdenn (1163), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 15, 2008 On tap at Shorts in a sampler glass. Pours dark black with a beige head. Nose of chocolate and some banana. Chocolate, brown sugar, banana, wheat and a touch of spice in the flavors. Bittersweet finish. With the wheat, I was not thinking this was going to be classified as a stout. Tasty though. jeffwilliams11 (278), hooterville, Michigan, USA Aug 3, 2008 draft at hopcats shorts dinner.
pour is very deep brown with red hints, and a nice off brown head. flavor is quite chocolatey, with a little bit of coffee in the back. only let down is that it is a little bit thin for my stout tastes.
