Commercial Description:
A rich lustrous dark red London ale. Rich malt complexities lending notes of toasted caramel, raisins, toffee, and slight roast chocolate. Very light hop additions let the true malt characters promenade throughout the tasting enjoyment this beer offers.

At the brewery in May. Dark, cloudy red-brown with thin off white head. Toffee-malt aroma, complex flavor with toffee, dried fruit, and a bit of roasty cocoa.

On draft at Old Chicago Okemos. Pours ruddy brown with a thin tan head. Tons of malt in the aroma. Biscuit and toffee. Flavor is much more complex than a typical red ale: caramel sweetness, light earthy spice, bread, and dark fruit. Relatively light carbonation. Nice session for the fall!

A nice suprise to find a Short’s on tap I have never tried or even heard of. going in blind I was plesantly suprised. Rich orange color with a nice sweet smell. I don’t think I was influenced bye the time of year but the Magician really reminds me of an Oktoberfest. It is very drinkable but less than some normal ales. It has a bit of a backbone of carmel and bitterness.

I had this on tap, poured a dark reddish brown with a tiny tan head. It had a caramel, malty aroma and tasted much the same. It was rather sweet, but not overpowering. I enjoyed this beer, nice medium body, light carbonation...it would be a good drinking beer.

Growler from Brewery 7/4/09-Pours a dark brown with a small tan ring for a head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, and chocolate. Taste of the same with sweeter spots and a bit of berry on the back end. This full bodied brew is quite tasty and well balanced.

On tap at the brewery. Hazy, almost muddy dark brown with small beige head. Aromoa is semi-sweet fudge with caramel and mollases. Flavor is sweeter caramel and fruit with some spice and orange peel. Medium body with light carbonatin. Very good.

Growler shared by Rogueone. Pours a semi-cloudy red with a thin tan head. Incredibly malty aroma with grain, caramel and cream. Creamy caramel flavor with a bit of berry on the finish.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a growler. This brew is a clear reddish-amber color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes quickly. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Light caramel malt and fruit in the nose. Light, clean body with flavors of toasted malt and caramel flavors along with some fresh fruit. The finish is short and malty with a light fruit aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.
