lassem (110), Copenhagen, Denmark Aug 8, 2008 Pours a deep coca-cola brown body with a light-brown head. The nose is burnes malts, cherrys, brown sugar, burned figs and caramel. I taste sousages smoked with mulberry-branches, vinoes like ports, sour currants, vanilla, orange-peel, wood-chips and coffée-flavour toffée - Actualy it reminds me of a shot called Kalinka (at least that is what I call it) A shot where you after the Vodka shot chews a slice of orange that on the one side is filled with sugar and on the other coffee... nice. I really liked this one
wetherel (1012), Carlsbad, California, USA Sep 29, 2007 A big thanks to Andy (awaisanen) for pulling off (I mean out) his Shorts. Tasted in line for the 07 Alesmith BA release. Sweet nutty interesting aroma. Dark amber color. Big bubble head. Sweet. Light hops. Malty, very good. yjb (108), Bloomington, Indiana, USA May 8, 2008 Another inventive and creative attempt from shorts comes first with a standard brown ale-sorta flavor, followed in a the unexpected form of a pancake, stuffed with pecans and soaked in maple syrup... wait a while and i think this will improve [note to self head up to shorts and buy two of these wait 2-5 years... enjoy :-) ] Hudspart (317), Hudsonville, Michigan, USA Jul 28, 2008 Bottle: Pours brown with a medium head. Aroma of alcohol and sugar. Flavor starts out as sugar (syrup) with a very strong finish of pecans. Very good. Grovlam (3087), Copenhagen, Denmark Sep 1, 2008 Bottle. [Drikkeriget Grand Shorts Imperial Series tasting, thanks to Jeppe for another great session] Average beige creamy head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Muddy dark brown color. Aroma was heavy maple syrup and nutty – walnut notes. Also mild fruit and what could best be described as tree like. Also picking up dried fruity notes under the malty base. Very full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild alcoholic and somewhat thick texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor. Strange walnut bittersweet like finish with an average duration. Defiantly a different take on an American Strong Ale.
