Rastacouere (5409), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Jul 7, 2008 Objectively speaking:
A complex and tasty bock that either matured well since the last visitors came by or they plain have no idea what they’re talking about.
I like:
Exquisite malt extraction. Perfect level of balancing german hops (tettnang? hallertau?) not only cuts through the balanced residual sugars levels invites to the next sip as a smokey kiss sneaks in the finish. Vibrant toasty, fresh bread and fruit basket medley. Excellent cleansing carbonation. Light-medium body increases the drinkability further and a beer this good instantly becomes highly drinkable. Never intense, but from the beginning until the end, plain tasty and without any alcohol viewing.
I dislike:
Its seasonal status. beerbuzzmontreal (2747), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jul 7, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber color with a ring of white foam. Nice aroma of malt, fruits and freshly cut grass. Good flavor of malt, fruits and grass. This is a very interesting dunkler bock. Taktik_MTL (1983), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada May 22, 2008 En fût. (Rating #1715) MartinT (4377), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 20, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Bready cereals and a spicy hop kick coalesce in this clean, lean and highly drinkable Bock.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy amber.
-That spicy noble hoppiness provides calculated bitterness.
-Some fruity sweetness leaks from the sweetish cereals.
-A little personality might be lacking to bring this into "very good" territory, but once again this is the first batch of this beer brewed in their brewery.
On tap at the brewpub.
