| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 29, 2005 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with whaleman, thanks David!) This is a fairly mild and easy drinking brown ale, nutty, sweet, caramely, toasty, very lightly roasty, but minimally bitter or hoppy. Very ordinary, except that I’m really liking the smoky finish, and that is worth added points. Nutty, roasty and malty nose is pleasant but not really all that exciting. A bit thin, especially in the finish, and the carbonation is gentle on the palate as well. Medium brown color is light enough that I can see through the beer and read text on the other side. The small light tan head settles to a ring without leaving any lacing to speak of. Would be a nice, simple beer to keep a sixer in the fridge. Lou18 (1353), West Paterson, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 9, 2005 Poured a clear brown with a small fast fading creme head. Nose does have hints of chocolate malts, some sweetness and sugar-candy. There is chocolate and candy in the taste. Sweet but not over powering sweet. There may even be a hint of smoke in this. Quite a nice surprise for an "ordinary" brown. SpringsLicker (2043), Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 13, 2005 This starts out as a good looking brown ale. Dark brown color with hints of red, light tan head which is thick and tight but somewhat fleeting.
Sweet malt aroma with a sharp edge to it that puts off a bit.
Sweet malt flavor with some toasted marshmallow and a bit of chocolate at the edge. Smores? Smooth, a tad thin but overall, a refreshing and drinkable session ale.
Thanks to Whaleman for sending this! beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 30, 2005 Medium brown color. Large sized beige foamy head. Aroma is caramel malts and nutty. A medium bodied nut brown ale. Malts are toffee and sweet, slightly nutty. More nuttiness in the aroma than the flavor. Nice balance. Mild flavors. Very drinkable. Smooth tasting. Very drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Dec 31, 2004 Foaming, tangy, citric... hmmm a bit too much effervescence. After shaking out the foam it’s softer, fruity and bits of fruit sour. erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 28, 2004 Pours a light brown with a fizzy head. Oxidized aroma with some fruitiness from an English ale strain. Very lite for the style. Some choclate notes but not much in the way of crystal and a fair amount of diacetyl. Pretty oxidized too. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA
