| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Dark amber out of the bottle with a whispy thin off white head. Burnt sugar nose. Seems thin with some caramel sweetness and faint roasted grain notes. Not very interesting. BBB63 (4274), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 2, 2004 Reddish brown hue with a short frothy off-white head and good lace. The aroma hints of cashews, caramelized malts, mild coco flakes, faint aromatic hops, and a off band-aid ester. The taste starts with a zesty and caramel presence. Undertones of nuts and mocha found within. The short finish displays a bready and bitter combo with a hint of coffee. The mouthfeel is good for a brown ale, lively and refreshing, dry and chalky in the finish. Just average but good enough for a drink or two, it is not nutty enough however. Thanks again Eric for the bottle. This beer, like the rest from this brewery, is brilliantly clear. Notes of roast malt, a nuttiness, and a fruitiness all together in the aroma. Nice malty beer. Fairly fruity tasting as well. The promised nuttiness in the nose is not as apparent in the taste. Appropriately there is not much hop presence anywhere. This allows for the malt to come through. This beer does not quite deliver though. It is good just missing some nut brown malt complexity. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA

Light chocolate aroma, some malt. Mmm, caramel and nuttiness flavors stand out the most, some chocolate. Very nice body with a pleasing finish. A very good brown.
