Pretty foul grainy aroma with some caramel sweetness and toasted notes. Flavor seems to be pretty oxidized, I checked the bottle for a date, but all I could find was a code. Beyond that, what I could taste was fairly sweet and unremarkable. Mouthfeel is thin with minimal carbonation. I’m hoping this is just a little old, because it’s clearly not a good beer. Drank about 3-4 ounces and drain poured the rest. Silphium (2155), Haslett, Michigan, USA

Toasty aroma, a touch of sweetness, a bit corny with a hint of cardboard. Thin, light body, with toast, touches of dark fruit, and grassy hops. A bit leafy. Rather nondescript, light, and boring, but the gimmick’s the point here. Acquired via a White Elephant exchange at MrFacto’s Milwaukee holiday tasting, from DenverLogan. | 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 8, 2005 This is the most middle of the road beer I have ever had. A good color, but NO head at all. Not a bad smell, abut not really any smell. Not a bad flavor of sweetness, but not much flavor. It isn’t as thin on the palate as one would expect either. Very weird. I guess aliens do exist. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 10, 2005 Pours an amber clear color with a quickly dissapearing pale head. The aroma is sweet and malty with with a caramel note, a hint of cinnamon, and perhaps a hint of hops. The taste is lightly sweet and finishes with a bit of malty, caramel-type nuttiness. This beer is pretty light, and quite quaffable. There is a light, spicy bitterness in the finish that serves as a pretty good foil for the the malt notes that dominate this beer. All in all a simple quaffable brew.
