Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle. Copper pour with a decent heat. Aroma is faint but nice, hops mostly. Flavor is much of the same, mostly hops with a little caramel sweetness, pretty good. BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Oct 31, 2009 a nice hoppy IPA. Good balance and flavor. Not too spicy but a nice hint of citrus. Full frothy head. MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Oct 30, 2009 12oz bottle. first pour is mostly head; very frothy and thick light tan merangue. rocky and dimply. color is a cloudy light amber/copper color, golden at edges and lots of tiny yeast particles. heavy lacing hangs like injection-foam. toasted caramel malt aroma, mild grapefruit peel, and light fresh pine needles. flavor is like the aroma, light caramel/crystal malt, some mildly dry hop bitterness, and a bit of grapefruit section - pulp with pith. low but sprighlty carbonation, snappy hop finish. light spice aftertaste. top notch session beer! bsp77 (191), Minnesota, USA Oct 29, 2009 Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Clear amber-orange with a creamy head that leaves slight lacing. SN beers always look good.
Aroma of citrus, pine and toasted malt. Smells bitter.
Slightly sweet citrus and toast, with a nice bitter pine counterbalance. Finishes quite bitter as expected, but some sweetness remains through the end of each sip (unusual for an IPA).
Moderate carbonation, relatively light body for an IPA but has a smooth creaminess to it. Finishes mostly dry.
Light and refreshing, but bitter, everyday IPA. Seems like this should be year round and the Torpedo should be seasonal. Of course, both are great and I prefer the Torpedo, so it all works out. greenhorn1 (458), Mission Viejo, California, USA Oct 25, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pous murky gold with a big head that lingers around for a while. Nice hoppy aroma with some bold citrus notes. Flavor is similiar with some pine notes in the background. Somewhat dry and a short bitter finish. I do wish this had more of a hop bite, but it is still a very drinkable IPA.
