Pine hop aroma. Amber golden coloured and very hoppy. Smooth on the palate with a crisp and floral bitter finish. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 8, 2009 Pours a deep amber with a fleeting off white head. Aroma of pine hops, caramel, citrus. Similar taste with some fruit characters and a bitter finish. craftycarl21 (560), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Aug 7, 2009 Clear amber pour with a decent sized white frothy head. Aroma is mostly of citrus hops, from the Cascades, with some some caramel malt as well. Flavor continues down the same path, with more specific notes of grass, tangerine, and grapefruit. Palate is the weakest aspect of this beer; very little body, thin the tongue. Not nearly as good as Torpedo, which will likely keep me from having this again in the foreseeable future. bobman006 (67), New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 6, 2009 2008 Bottle. Sediment filled copper pour with tight off-white head. Aroma of citrus, pine, flower, and some earthy funk. Taste profiles bitter hops with grapefruit and pine and a slightly toasty subdued malt backbone. Slightly foamy mouthfeel. Solid AIPA. williamherbert (466), Syracuse, New York, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Clear but hazy copper orange color. A thick pillow of puffy white head. Scant collection of tiny bubbles. The head politely sticks around for a bit. Specks of sediment float about like primordial amber.
The aroma is a fresh perfume of hops, primarily of the pine variety, but also some sweet citrus. Has some really nice bready malts. The aroma is formidable but fragrant.
The taste is more of those perfumy hops, this time on the grateful tongue. The hops are very very woody, like Pine-Sol. Quite nice indeed. A real resiny hop character.
The feel is thick and creamy, with a nice fizzy bite. Bubbles up when agitated. It’s a really terrific beer. Hoppy and awesome. Perfumey but not unbalanced. Challenging, bittersweet and top notch. v64 (74), Austin, Texas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 12/20 | Aug 5, 2009 Large offwhite head. Dark amber in color. Very nice malty aroma with a tinge of hops. The taste is extremely smooth. It’s bitter, yes, but a balanced bitter that doesn’t overwhelm. Excellent IPA. potbeercollege (386), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 4, 2009 Bottled. hazy orangish amber beer, with orange/tan head that started big but quickly disappeared. Aroma is strong but not outstanding of fruity and earthy hops mixed with the notable sweet smell of malt. The flavor is overly bitter; a bitterness that lasts. The beer tries to balance this bitterness with fruitiness. Big IPA swanmann (309), Norman, Oklahoma, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Aug 4, 2009 From the bottle, poured nice and clear deep amber orange with moderate off-white, orange hued head, settling after about a minute. Nice lacing. I detect aromas of caramel and citrusy hops. The flavor is definite hoppy bitterness, but still allows sweetness and breadiness to come through. The finish is gentle. It’s a great, smooth IPA.
