Commercial Description:
Gold Medal Winner, Great American Beer Festival (Ales: Brown, Bitter and Pale 1987, Barleywine 1988,1992,1995). Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is an award winning example of the English Barley Wine style. It boasts a dense, fruity bouquet; an extremely rich, intense, bittersweet palate; and a deep, reddish-brown color. This ale is superbly balanced between an almost overpowering maltiness and a wonderfully bittersweet hoppiness.

Mouth watering and delicious. Fills the entire mouth, tickling every cringe and taste bud. A great night cap, easily takes 30 mins to sip through, and strangely reminds me of Campari & Vodka, another night cap favorite. Very bitter, girlfriend says dark honey taste - the smell of the best honey in the world according to her. 2007 bottle purchased for 36dkr in Ølbutikken.

Bottle 2007 edition. Hazy deep amber body with a small off-white head. Very barley wine like aroma. Sweet malt, chocolate and hops. Medium bodied. Softly carbonated. Fantastic flavour of barley, american hops, bit alcohol, heavy malty and lots of fruit. Great barley.

I just think it’s funny seeing the look on the checker’s face at the supermarket when you buy a $14 six-pack. "It’s Bigfoot" I say. Pours the traditional deep amber sunset color, nice. Aroma of American C hops. Taste of some big malts quickly overwhelmed by hop bitterness. Nice if you like IPA’s, but I’d like to taste a little more malt in an English Barley wine. Alcohol well hidden. Overall, I’m feeling fine after two.

Pours a dark brown with a 1 1/2 finger dark beige head. I really enjoy hops, so this barley wine was right up my alley. Have only had a few other barley wines, so not much to compare to. Would drink this again and again.

This brown beer poured with a decent beige head and a hoppy caramel aroma. This is perhaps the hoppiest barleywine I have had. The flavor starts off syrupy and sweet, but quickly becomes bitter with a warm alcohol trail. There’s a lot of everything in this brew, making it an interesting and tasty treat.

09 bottle. Pours brown with off white head. Aroma of caramel malts with a big hoppy nose. Taste good caramel malts, with good dose of sugar, counterbalanced by bittering hops. Solid barley wine with a stronger emphasis on hops. I prefer a little less hop in a barley wine

Dark amber appearance; Good amount of off-white head. Aroma: fruity? Slightly sweet. To much hops for my taste; started mid sip and gets strong at end..

12 oz bottle of 2009 Bigfoot. Pours clear, red-tinged brown, with a medium off-white head. Pours clear, red-tinged brown, with a medium off-white head. Aroma is hoppy citrus and spice, with some sweetness, bread, hints of caramel and dark fruit, and a bit of alcohol hotness. Flavor is spicy hops up front, citrus hops, grains, caramel. Quite a hoppy barley wine, very tasty. Re-rating another bottle as I believe my palate was somewhat off the day of my first rating due to lack of sleep.
