Deep, dark fruit imbedded in rich and roasted barley-malt. Balance is good between the sweet-roast malt and hops. No wonder this beer has some awards under its belt!

Another good and reasonably easy to find barley wine. I enjoyed a couple bottles of this one from two different years, 2007 and 2008, in one sitting. Though the style is supposed to get better with age, there was no notable difference for me. Very enjoyable nonetheless.

Sierra Nevada is second to the Boston Brewing company in size, so I was a little apprehensive to get this, but the price was right for a barley wine. I guess I shouldn’t jump to conclusions like that, this stuff is AWESOME! I just had bells third coast ale a few days ago, which this is comparable to, but isn’t qute there. But a fantastic beer nonetheless. It has a very subtle smokey/sweetness to it, that makes it very tasty, yet very drinkable, much more so than the latter. Bravo to Sierra Nevada!!

Sierra Nevada really doesn’t make a bad beer. This one was no different. It is a darker red to brown. Perfect white head. Very heavy beer, it is a sipper. But it is worth every penny. Can’t taste the alcohol at all.

Great looking reddish-brown pour. Lasting thin froth on top. Perfectly balanced big malts up front, with a backbone of medium intensity hops. Hop oriented finish like you’d expect from Sierra Nevada. Very rich mouthfeel, so you get what you paid for; definitely won’t finish your pack in one night.

Bottle. Clear, dark amber pour with a medium size head. Aroma of sweet malt and bitter hops. Similar flavor with notes of dark fruit and licorice. Much hoppier than any other barleywine I’ve had. Very nice beer.

lovely beer!!! copper color, nice amount of foam on top, with good lacing, nose was cascade hops mainly but some pine in there too, some sweet malt and good alcohol. flavor was sweet the malts are right up front, dried fruits sugar and a good hop bitterness on the finish. Thick mouthfeel that was lovely. Great barely wine, on e of the best examples of the style

This beer pours a cloudy deep reddish amber with no head. Being a hophead, I really liked the amount of hops in this thing. it’s not normal for a barley wine, but it is refreshing. Also this is a little on the dry side which i liked; not an overpowering sweetness. I have had much better but this one really tasted good! Cheers!
