Aroma is of chocolate, caramel, roasted malts, and slight hoppiness. Flavor starts off with chocolate and roasted malts and finishes with caramel and some bitterness that lingers for a little. A decent brew. orville (160), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 3, 2007 (2006 bottle) Pours a see thru mohogany-brown and a hugh head that slowly fades. Aroma of roasts and hops. This is worth trying but i perfer their porter which is a way better dark ale. Also, this is not the best example of the style. However, the flavor is big in hops and smoothed out by the flavorful water just like every beer from this brewery. I had one with a meat lovers pizza and it was resfreshing bitter interplay with the meats.
