| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 31, 2006 Poured an effervescent brownish mahogany with a fizzy off-white head that dissipated completely. Looks like Coca-Cola (not a plus in my book). Pleasing aroma of nuts, molasses, maple syrup, a touch of fruit. Flavor is dry with notes of maple syrup, almonds, and grassy hops, leading to a nutty dry finish. Fairly full-bodied for the style. This felt a tad underrated for me, though I wouldn’t attest to being any connaisseur of brown ales. GuilTTy (538), Cherry Hill, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Clear medium dark pour under a thin khaki head that quickly settles to a tight thin disc that tops the beer all the way to the bottom. Mildly nutty aroma but otherwise not much of an aroma at all. Nutty, toasted malt-dominant flavor with hints of coffee. Not much hop presence (nose or flavor). Light body and unremarkable finish. I was happy to get a bottle (as a gift) because SN doesn’t distribute this one to Jersey but, unfortunatley, it was disappointing. Look further south along PCH for a much better brown ale (Green Flash). Marsiblursi (1646), Göteborg, Sweden
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 28, 2006 (Bottle) Pours brown to red. Fresh, light hoppy aroma with roasted undertones. Nutty, some chocolat and hints of grass and raisins. Maybe some fruityness with peaches and apricots. Super silky mouthfeel with rosted tones thats hiding both hints of coffee and chocolate. Light citrusy bitter finish with some alcohol. A bit dry. Medium body. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2006 Brown pour, moderate head, decent lacing. Aroma is nuts, caramel, light roast, spicy hops. Flavor brings this, moderate bitterness. Not bad but suffers from brown ale syndrome. GoBlue (102), Falls Church, Virginia, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Malty and roasty aroma. Flavor is slightly chocolaty with a hint of raostiness, plenty of malt. Some hop bitterness, limited hop flavor. Medium bodied with strong sharp carbonation. OK, but not exciting TheBeerGod (3157), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Bottle. Copperish hue with a small densely packed tanned head on the surface. Nose is roasty malts and cocoa with a bit of caramel and nuttiness. Taste is malty and roasty with more nutty flavors and a bit of hops. Very tasty! Body is creamy and medium-full with a moderate carbonation feel. Ends with more chocolate, cocoa, nuts, and roasty malts. Very good! alexanderj (2264), Chino Hills, California, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Dec 11, 2006 Poured a fairly opaque brown. Aroma was smoky and reminded me of burnt toast. Flavors of malt and a smoky flavor. Flavor was really blend and the ending tasted like water.
