Caramel and slight toasty notes shhow up in the taste. A little bit of nuttiness also. Slight hops and bitterness. Good stuff mansquito (832), Boston/Philadelphia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2006 A brown ale that is not sweet at all, but is still nice and full of flavour. Just had one bottle of this, but I definately enjoyed it. A little bit on the bitter side of things. Definately would drink this nice beer another time if I get the chance. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 3, 2006 (Bottle) Pours brown with a short beige head. Burnt toffee and malty flavors got a little overwhelming at times. Hoppy, bitter notes as well. Unlike other Brown Ales that I have tried in that it has no malty sweetness. Not very balanced, but decent nevertheless. FOAMer (38), Bartlesville, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 3, 2006 Light chocolate and toasted notes. Earthy hop character. Light esters and some yeast character in the aroma. Deep amber to light brown in glass, very nice clarity. Moussy head that dissapates quickly in the glass. Light lacing on the glass lingers. Flavor is of toasted and chocolate with a bitterness in the back ground. Maltiness is medium and balances the bitterness. Hop flavors are noticable but not overpowering like the bitterness. Overall a very drinkable beer. Silphium (2137), Haslett, Michigan, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 1, 2006 Clear red-brown body with fine sediment, thin off-white head. Expected aroma of toast and chocolate, paired with earthy hops. Strongly carbonated body bites the palate, and with that bite notes of toast and baker’s chocolate, followed by a surprisingly bitter, long hoppy finish. Pretty much everything I look for in a brown ale. ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 30, 2006 Not as sweet and a bit more hoppy than most of the browns that I’ve tried. I’d recommend it (along with every other Sierra Nevada brew!)
