Clear light brown color with tan head that left a little lace on the glass. Light nutty aroma with a whiff of malty brown sugar mixed with subdued sprucy hops. Dry on the tongue. Earthy flavor and a hint of dried leaves. Typical brown ale in my opinion...not very exciting, but at the same time decent. oldno7 (137), Spokane, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 20, 2006 Pours a nice dark brown with an off white head. Aroma was refreshing with definate notes of malts, hops, caramel and brown sugar. The flavor is smooth with a nice body and creamy palate, with hints of chocolate, malts, hops, and some coffee. A very well balanced beer. HogTownHarry (4020), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 19, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Poured deep clear chestnut with a small beige head - 4 points for a truly elegant colour. Dry roast nutty malt aroma, faint parched floral hops, tart berry fruit - different, balanced. Taste is also dry, bitter and slightly tart - nutshell, slightly toffeeish roast malt, cranberry, more bitterness in the finish. Acceptable body for a brown, light astringency and very good carbonation - a good brown ale, not syrupy and sweet like most. crazyvin (1254), New York, USA
