12 oz. bottle 2006 - Pours a clear brown color with a nice off white head. Light spotty lacing. Has a earthy, caramel malt aroma. Has a lightly toasted caramel malt flavor. Nice hop bitterness balance. Light to medium body. Nothing fancy. Just a easy drinking beer.

Pours deep brown with almost no head. Aroma is a bit funky, almost dirty, unappetizing. A thin mouth feel, upfront malt bite and a later hazelnut bitterness. Not bad, not great.

this beer is very dark with a sweet aromatic flavor but its very dry. An almost astrigent finish - not something a look for ain a brown ale

Pours a reddish brown with a small tan head that dissipates quickly. Roasted caramel aroma. Some chocolate and a little coffee as well. Hardly any sweetness, a bit of a bite to the taste. Palate is watery.

Orange hued brown color with a well formed, tan head. Milky, toasty, caramel malt aroma with a nice, spicy hop. Very big hop acidity on the palate. Too much. It starts out with some toasty malt, a touch of sweet caramel, some tobacco smoke, and spicy hop flavor but then the acidity kicks in and washes it all away just as the palate is developing. When it comes down to it, Brown ale is one of the hardest beer styles to master properly and I do not believe they came very close with this interpretation. Beisides the acidity destroying the palate, there is no yeast fruit from a warm fermentation and probably could never be since their yeast really has no ale like, fruity character.

A light brown ale, too carbonated, lacking malt flavor. Disappointed, Sierra Nevada brews great tasting beer but not this one.

2006 - Release - Pours a nice medium brown color. Aromas of light nut, some vegtable. Flavor is bitter, watery, with light touches of nuts and malts. Not one of Sierra Nevada’s best offerings.

Brown with some red highlights. Tan head virtually disappears. A nutty maltiness and some floral hop in the aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet with roasted malts followed by a bitter finish. Not bad, just not one of my favorite styles.
