Pretty weak aroma, but there is some nuttiness evident. Nice carbonation and smooth. Slightly sweet and bitter taste. Some cocoa and light malt. Bitter finish with a surprising amount of hops. Good, but not much depth. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 3, 2006 Bottled. Beer is clear, dark brown with a small, off-white, frothy, mostly diminishing head. Aroma is malty with moderate notes of deeply toasted grain, cookie; Hoppy with a trace note of resin/pine; Yeasty with moderate-to-heavy notes of dough, light note of basement; Trace miscellaneous note of top soil, alcohol. The flavor is moderately bittersweet, lightly acidic with a long-than-average, moderately bitter, lightly sweet, trace acidic finish. The body is light, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. Darkover (1313), Columbus, Ohio, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 2, 2006 I really enjoyed this beer. Pours a nice brown color with a thin white head. The taste is more American than British for a brown ale and that is to my liking. This is a great medium bodied ale. sloth (1673), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Nose is malty, bready, lightly nutty and spicey. Body is light, sorta thin. Lightly roasty malts, caramel, chocolate, faintly fruity and earthy. Finish is about dry, malty. An OK brown. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2006 Nothing to stand out on this one, but it was enjoyable and sippable. Standard brown ale base flavor and malts, the aroma also being pretty typical. Certainly a slant toward the hops as this one finishes with a touch of bitterness. Malt backbone isn’t very sweet or sticky, some light roastedness and caramel going on, mouthfeel fairly moderate, even seeming a little light for the style. Just an average brown ale, but not bad.
